Boat Season Is Finally Back!
There’s just something exciting about pulling the boat out of storage for the first time each year. You know summer is officially getting close when the trailer gets hooked up, the truck gets loaded, and the anticipation starts building for long days on the water.
In this video, we take you along with us as we pick up the boat from storage and bring it to the dealer to get everything checked over and ready for summer. After sitting through the winter, we wanted to make sure everything was in top shape before lake season officially kicks off.
From towing the boat across town to getting it prepped for warmer weather, this day felt like the true beginning of summer for our family.
The Tow Setup
For this trip, we used our GMC Sierra AT4 that’s slowly turning into the ultimate adventure and towing setup. Between the overland gear, roof rack setup, and towing capability, it handled the boat with ease.
There’s something satisfying about seeing the truck and boat all hooked up and ready for the road. It instantly puts you in summer mode.
One day, these campfire nights will just be stories… so stay a little longer tonight.
One of the biggest upgrades we’ve added for towing is the Shocker Hitch setup. If you tow often, especially with a heavier boat or trailer, you know how rough bumps, dips, and sudden jolts can feel through the truck and trailer. The Shocker Hitch helps absorb a lot of that movement, making towing feel smoother and more controlled on the road.
We also have air bags installed on the truck to help manage the added tongue weight from the boat and trailer. The air bag setup helps keep the truck level, improves ride quality, and gives us more stability while towing — especially on longer drives or rougher roads.
Once everything is hooked up correctly, you can immediately feel the difference. The truck stays planted, the trailer tracks better, and the overall driving experience becomes much more comfortable and confidence inspiring.
As we continue building this truck for overlanding, towing, camping, and family adventures, upgrades like these make a huge difference for both performance and comfort.

Getting the Boat Ready
One thing we’ve learned over the years is that preseason maintenance matters. Even if everything seems fine when the boat goes into storage, it’s always smart to have things checked before getting back on the water.
The dealer went through everything to help make sure we’re ready for a smooth summer season:
- General inspection
- Maintenance checks
- Trailer inspection
- Battery and system checks
- Making sure everything is lake-ready
Because nobody wants their first lake day ruined by a preventable issue.
Of Course… We Had to Stop at Buc-ee’s 👀
No road trip feels complete without snacks, drinks, and wandering around Buc-ee’s longer than planned.
If you know, you know.
Somehow you walk in for a drink and leave with beef jerky, random gadgets, and enough snacks to survive a week-long camping trip.
Summer Adventures Are Almost Here
This video is really more than just boat prep. It’s about the excitement of a new season starting. The road trips. The lake days. The family memories. The sunsets on the water. The chaos of loading everything up. The laughs. The small moments you end up remembering forever.
Summer always seems to fly by, so we’re trying to enjoy every part of it.
We’ve got a lot more boating, overlanding, camping, truck content, and family adventures coming soon — and this is just the beginning.
What’s your favorite part about getting ready for summer?
